Charing Cross Tower constructed between 1971 and 1975 and designed by architect Richard Seifert, who was also responsible for the well known Centre Point tower in London (the similarities are very clear)
Fun fact: the back cover of Deacon Blue’s ‘Raintown’ album uses an atmospheric Oscar Marzaroli photo looking along the M8 with the Charing Cross Tower on the left and the Mitchell Library on the right
