Odessa, Kelvingrove. Matthew Rich, 2024. 3 layer screen print on Somerset tub-sized satin white 400gsm paper. Edition of 25.

This print was made after re-reading Alasdair Gray’s Poor Things and watching the movie. Bella Baxter compares the famous steps in Odessa (scene of the massacre in Battleship Potemkin) with those close to her home in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow.

M.A.R.S. Print Studio is based in The Glue Factory, Glasgow, providing screen printing services for artists and designers. Matthew Rich runs the studio; together with Danny Augustine they provide a personal service bringing Matthew's 40 plus years experience and screen print expertise and Danny's instinct, ability and proven talent as artist and printmaker. Over the years Matthew has worked with a huge range of artists which include Charming Baker, Margaret Calvert, Gary Hume, Bruce McLean, Rachel Whiteread and Peter Blake.  He also produces his own work. Danny is an artist and printmaker whose work can be seen in the Soho House collections and at Jealous Gallery.

Becca McCormack (Rebecca Rose McCormack-Haigh to be precise!) joined M.A.R.S in 2023 to assist with larger projects and to make her own screen printed works on paper. Becca graduated in Painting and Printmaking from Glasgow School of Art in 2022.

M.A.R.S specialises in artists’ limited edition prints on paper but we can also print onto almost anything that’s flat. Past projects have included screen prints on perspex, glass, plywood and fabrics. We have made many short runs of T-Shirts and tote bags but we’re not set up for this type of work in bulk.

Whatever the scale of the work M.A.R.S will ensure that it is of top quality, delivered on time and for a reasonable price.  To find out more about what is possible, have a look around this site and feel free to call the studio for a chat with Matthew.
